Waffle House is a highly sustainable and original extension and reconfiguration of a Victorian terraced house for a young, growing family who love to cook and eat together.

The kitchen is at the centre of the house, and looks onto a flexible, open-plan light filled space at the rear for dining and informal living (formal living room at front of the house). The connected spaces allows for parents to keep an eye on children whilst cooking, and for gatherings based around the preparation and consumption of food, whilst also being the day to day place to have meals together.

A practical approach to achieving a building with a low embodied energy through extensive use of timber: suspended timber floor, timber wall and roof structure, exposed timber wall, ceiling and floor finishes.
