Thoughtful interventions reconnect a small fragmented house into a restful, light-filled home and garden in a quiet corner of Chelsea. At lower level, a side infill extension replaces an unused passage to make full use of the site; creating an open, porous living space that is intimately connected to the freshly landscaped garden via full-width glass sliding doors. A lowered floor connects with the front kitchen-diner and planted courtyard down a wide stair that frames unobstructed views through the home. A rooflight above softens the transition and floods both spaces with light. At ground level, the same rooflight encloses an internal balcony; connecting the study with space below. Between here and the upper levels, a Tatami room offers a place of rest; enjoying views to the garden.
