Internal refurbishment of 1980’s ‘Post Modern’ town house.
The house has been completely refurbished and transformed from being dark and boxy into a light home with free flowing and interconnected spaces; demonstrating that you don’t need to extend to improve.
The main architectural moves in this project were to change all the openings into the living spaces with large 2m wide sliding socket doors and to create a triple height void through the centre of the plan to allow all these space to connect to each each other.
Some changes to the window configuration enabled a clear relationship to the garden from the entrance creating orientation and allowing light to flood through to the centre of the plan.
A refined material pallet for the refurbishment brought richness and quality to the previously tired and drab interior, celebrating the post modern influence but enriching the experience with natural light, handcrafted elements and texture.
