Lean Too!

Lean too! is the renovation and extension of a 2-bed Victorian ground floor maisonette. It had common issues associated with converted houses: two oversized bedrooms, originally living rooms, a small kitchen and living room with poor connection to the garden. The family needed more and better space.

A lean-to structure was added allowing minimum intervention to the existing fabric. A butterfly-roofed extension was used to relocate the kitchen and create a larger living area. The inner room became a bedroom and, when needed, can be used as an extension of the living space.

Focusing on natural and warm materials, the room opens onto the mature garden and was carefully designed with exquisitely crafted and detailed timber beams commissioned to create a place central to family life.
