Colonnade

The project is for a young and growing family who frequently share their home with extended family members. A traditional cellular arrangement of formal spaces failed to satisfy the demands of true family living, particularly with regards to the flexibility of use that open plan living now goes someway to accommodate.

Re-organised, open yet separated living spaces were created to offer spaces for the family to gather, but also to retreat to. Scale and links to the remainder of the house vary through the spaces to cater for different ages and uses. 

A combination of forms and materials were developed to create a home that is equally for youngsters as it is grown-ups, allowing the project to retain a calm consistency but enough variety to create interest and enjoyment.
