A House for an Engineer

This project is a critique of permitted development. It avoids introducing a single large open plan family room as an autonomous addition to the original, & instead presents a suite of smaller interconnected rooms & courts that weave through the existing & new fabric of the building. Steps in section, at ground & ceiling level, tune the connections both visually & physically. Internally colour, decoration & material blur the distinction between what is contained within the new & old parts.
